Jacqui Ridley

My passion is glass. Glass is unique and interesting both technically and artistically. The richness, luminescence and depth of glass allows me to express my creativity in its purest form. I am influenced by contemporary quilters and embroiderers. I use tiny bugle beads to outline most of my compositions to create a stitch like look to my mosaics. Combining glass with other materials I can create different patterns and textures making intricate jewel-like mosaics.
It is my intention in a finished piece to show the glow and glistening of color in which light can dance off the mosaic. To capture the sparkle I use a blend of crushed glass, sand, glass glitter and micro beads instead of traditional grout.
